Yeah there's Pushmo, Dillon's, Steel Diver, Disaster etc. but why do people, when responding to these 'no new IPs' comments, never just point out the glaringly obvious stuff?
Last gen Nintendo put out Wii Sports, the single most significant game on any console. They also did Wii Fit, Brain Training, Nintendogs and Professor Layton.
These were all huge.. never mind just being new IPs, they were gamechangers. I'm not sure how people can acc...
I mean at any point when a PS3 was more expensive than an Xbox 360!
Platinum Games - they just get it.
But didn't you guys pay up to $599 for the console with free online?
No, to counter I pointed out that Sony release just as many games in their series as Microsoft do.
God of War on PSP is the exact same thing as it is on PS2 and on PS3, but somehow they don't count in 'oversaturating' series? Hell, they've all appeared on PS3 anyway!
In your mind they're effectively new IPs because they're on a different console.
Of course, it's a different tact when this crap comes up against Nint...
They were made by the NeoGaf community, check the thread over there. Well worth it!
It's not different at all! You can do it per year, per console, per cycle, whatever - all are just stipulations to try and swing the count one way or another.
Games per franchise is the only way. Man up!
Microsoft introduced Gears of War, Dance Central, Viva Pinata, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Blue Dragon, Gunstringer, Kameo, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Blade and Shadow Complex just this gen.
The box art makes me think of Lucozade, lol.
There are some very funny photoshops of it out there..
God of War (6 games), Uncharted (4 games), Gran Turismo (5 games).
We can talk about IPs being 'burned out' anytime you like!
THIS!
There's nothing unconventional about his junk, lol. Basic Cage formula is cutscenes + QTEs + branching storyline. Most 'conventional' games do that and have action as well.
Super funny when a Cage fan resorts to 'deal with it'.
This was important too but the headstart was the key move, enforced by leading the way with online and having other services & features first, certain timed exclusives. Nobody likes to wait for stuff!
Same way they did it this gen really - do it first.
It's because many of us have seen all of this before - the 'console is doomed' talk, the post-launch game drought.. it's not good, but with the franchises and studios Nintendo has we know what's coming.
It's a standard E3 for Nintendo - no new hardware to reveal or anything super exciting like that, but big guns in the form of Mario, Smash Bros. and maybe Zelda U.
But for me the most exciting unknown would be an announcement from Retro.
Do their own versions of Nintendo Direct.
Microsoft's could be called Direct Xbox, I don't think that name has been used for anything previously..
Bit of a no-brainer as a far as next-gen rumours go, nevertheless still exciting!
You're right, disagreer, this news was expected and bodes well for next gen!
Well those games may not have excited you but they obviously did excite the millions of people who decided to go out and buy them!
